New Stereos for Fiat Cars

New Stereos for Fiat Cars

XTRONS brings updated stereos for the largest car builder in Italy

Despite Italy’s reputation for luxury supercars, a Fiat is very much a car for the people. Headquartered in Turin, and dating back to 1899, the company has made small, practical and loveable vehicles their stock-in-trade. Known for playful design flourishes and rugged-but-cute design, their vehicles are immensely popular and serve the purpose of economical personal and family transport. What’s more, their small proportions and sharp handling make them perfect for the narrow, mediaeval streets of Italian towns and cities.

More recently, Fiat’s range includes crossover SUVs and family hatchbacks, but their cute styling and economical use of space remains. Even with these new larger designs, city cars and superminis, exemplified by their endlessly popular 500 model, make up around 84% of the company’s sales.

The 500 “Topolino” (1926 - 1955)

One of the smallest cars in the world at the time of launch, the “little mouse” went on to sell nearly 520,000 units. With economical fuel consumption, aerodynamic design and a surprisingly brisk top speed, this instant classic set the tone for what was to come.

The 500 (1957 - 1975)

Eclipsing even its predecessor, the 500 is perhaps the city car. Its unusual rear-engined design, small size, exquisite design and practicality made it enormously popular, along with its affordable price. A motorcycle-like 479cc twin-cylinder engine provided the power and manoeuvrability to get through even the busiest of Italian market squares.

The Panda 4x4 (1983-1994)

A compact, rugged and utilitarian model, this was the first conventional car with four-wheel drive. With a 965cc engine and selectable low-ratio gears, this already robust car became the perfect farm vehicle or country ride, to go with its around-town credentials.

The Multipla (1998 - 2010)

A distinctive and somewhat bizarre looking car, this belied its immense practicality for families. With an unusual 3x3 seating arrangement, large cargo space and excellent passenger visibility, it was a genuinely innovative addition to the segment.

The “New” 500 (2007 - onwards)

An incredible success, this fun, practical, modern-retro car pays homage to the 500s that came before it by being the perfect city car. With a short, agile wheelbase, peppy engine and adorable styling, its popularity cannot be overstated.
